In collaboration with the Gunn Memorial Library, the Washington Art Association will kick off the art history seminar series with a free lecture given by artist educator Edward DeVoe on Saturday, August 1st at 1:00 PM. The lecture series will weave classical art history with reflections such as, ‘what does an artist see in the history of art?’ Edward DeVoe will look deeply into the past, delving into how art was made and why. You won’t want to miss this community-focused event and talk, made possible by the generosity of the Gunn Memorial Library for offering a space to hold the talk, and of course by Edward DeVoe, for his time and extensive knowledge.

Edward DeVoe is acclaimed for the authenticity of his techniques. He is recognized for his unique ability to “create modern paintings with the qualities of the Renaissance Masters.”  Mr. DeVoe developed techniques, which capture the natural brilliance and transparency of oil mediums. He taught landscape painting for over a decade in the heart of the Hudson River’s greatest scenery at The United States Military Academy, West Point. He studied at the Art Students League in New York and has been represented by numerous galleries.
