Make Your Own Medallion with Michael Keropian – Mondays, 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM | June 1-29, 2026

Price range: $45.00 through $265.00

5 weeks

Mondays, 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM | June 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29

Location: Washington Art Association General Studio

This class is a chance to make your own medal by individual casting. You will come up with a six-inch diameter design for a medal before the first class (or during the first class). You may bring in objects, patterns, drawings or engravings to use as a model, or can work with the instructor in the first class to determine a model.

The drawings are then transferred onto a plaster dish and designs modeled in clay. After the designs are worked in clay, a plaster mold of the design is poured and students can work the lettering and detailing in the negative plaster. After this is accomplished, a positive plaster is cast, leaving you with a positive plaster of your design. Plaster casting techniques and modifying/shaping steel files will be demonstrated.

For those who want to go further, there will be the option to create multiple medals and to paint the final product(s).

This class is meant to be a learning experience where students have fun while making miniature works of art in a pressure-free environment. No prior experience needed!

Instructor Fee: $30
