You’ve enjoyed your summer, now lets savor the summer through painting! Portraitist, ShawnaLee W. Kwashnak, will lead an early autumn watercolor workshop that will enhance each participants experience for creating captivating paintings of sandy beaches to stunning sunset views. Participants will gain valuable experience learning about the varied methods of painting with watercolors that can be immediately applied to paintings. Classes will include learning techniques, practical exercises and creating a painting of choice with guidance.

ShawnaLee will lead students through several demonstrated techniques and processes of watercolor painting followed by student practice and exploration.  Students will create several small summer inspired paintings. All levels welcome!

Student Supply List:

  •  Watercolor paper pad or sheets (140lb cold press recommended). At least four sheets – 11×15″ a good size.
  •  Basic watercolor paint set (tubes or pans). (Not artist’s loft brand please).
  •  A variety of watercolor brushes (rounds and flats)
  •  Rinse water containers and paper towels
  •  Printed photo references of beaches, oceans, or sunsets to work from
  • (A more specific recommended materials list may be provided upon request)

Supply Fee Option: “If you would prefer not to shop for your own watercolor supplies, I’ve got you covered! With 48 hours of notice, you can use my personal studio setup for the day. For a $30 material fee (payable via cash, check, or Venmo at the start of class), you will receive up to four sheets of premium watercolor paper to create and take home your final paintings, plus full, shared access to my professional paints, palettes, and various brushes for the duration of the workshop.”

Instructor ShawnaLee W. Kwashnak is a lifelong artist and animal lover with extensive experience in pet portraiture. She is passionate about helping others build confidence and bring their artistic goals to life.

Cancellation Policy

Participants who withdraw from a class must request a refund or credit more than 14 days prior to the start of the class in order to receive a full refund or credit (minus a $20 cancellation fee or 10% for one-day workshops). Participants who cancel a registration between 8 and 14 days prior to the start of the class may receive a 50% refund or credit. Participants who cancel a registration less than 7 days prior to the start of the class will not receive a refund or credit.

Washington Art Association does not offer prorating for classes, and there are no make-ups, credits or refunds if a student misses a class.

Membership fees are non-refundable.
