Geometric design and traditional carving are important elements of Afghan pottery, reflecting the rich artistic heritage and craftsmanship passed down through generations. In my pottery, I use geometric patterns to create a sense of balance, rhythm, and harmony on the surface of bowls and other vessels.

The designs are carefully planned and carved by hand directly into the clay. Lines, circles, triangles, diamonds, and repeating geometric patterns are combined to create a traditional yet timeless appearance. The carving is not simply decoration; it becomes part of the character and texture of the vessel.

This traditional carving technique requires patience, precision, and a strong understanding of the shape of the vessel. I carefully consider how the pattern follows the curves of the bowl so that the design becomes naturally connected to the form.

Through these geometric designs and hand-carved patterns, I aim to preserve traditional Afghan pottery techniques while also giving them a personal artistic expression. Each piece carries a connection between clay, tradition, craftsmanship, and contemporary creativity.
