Curious about mosaics? Spark your creativity and get into a relaxed state of mind through mosaics. Don’t want to work with cement thinset, then this is perfect for you – we will be using a mosaic glue rather than thinset. This workshop is perfect for beginners or for those who want to continue their mosaic journey. We will concentrate our focus on color, style, development and individual expression. Using the direct method, students will design and create a functional pc, such as a serving tea tray or a turntable. A variety of studio materials and tools will be provided. Taught in a fun,
relaxed atmosphere, this workshop is designed for beginners and gives you a taste of mosaic art, with an option to explore it further in future classes. Students will learn how to use nippers to cut glass and ceramics.
Course materials/fee:
- A materials fee of $20 will include glue, and a set amount of material for this project.
- All tools will be provided.
- Each student should come with a wood base, no larger than 12”, to work on. That could be a birdhouse, a tea tray, a turntable or mirror, etc.
- Students are also welcome to bring one or two memento objects or relics, if they wish to use them in their mosaic.
