ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
KATHLEEN SCHROEDER

Kathleen Schroeder’s work is centered on printmaking with a focus on lithography and monotype. Prior to working primarily in printmaking she worked in fiber using hand-dyed and painted fabrics to create art quilts. Kathleen won many fiber awards including both a first place and honorable mention at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas. Her fiber work was exhibited throughout the United States and at the Patchwork and Quilt Festival, Den Haag, Netherlands. She was also featured in several fiber art publications including Quilting Arts Magazine. Kathleen’s print work has also been exhibited widely in group shows as well as in a solo exhibitions at the Five Points Gallery in Torrington, Connecticut, in 2023 and 2026.

Kathleen graduated from University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in microbiology after which earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from the University of Minnesota in developmental biology. Kathleen also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, and worked as a health economics consultant in Washington, DC. Later, in a career transition, she studied at the Hartford Art School, where she was then hired to teach printmaking. Recently, Kathleen received a Master of Fine Art (MFA) from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, Massachusetts. She resides in Newtown, Connecticut.
