This two-session workshop is for anyone who wants to find a way to make their photographs stand out. You are unique, so why not have your photos also be unique enough to make viewers stop and look at them? If you wish your photos had more pop and less yawn, this is the class for you!
No materials; any digital camera (including phones) can be used.

Curious about mosaics? This beginner workshop is the perfect introduction! Using the direct method, students will design and create mosaic artwork with a variety of studio materials that will be provided. You can create one project or holiday coasters, trivets or ornaments. You’re welcome to bring personal items like trinkets or jewelry to incorporate into your piece. Learn the mortar method, avoiding the mess of grout while still achieving beautiful results. Taught in a fun, relaxed atmosphere, this workshop is designed for beginners and gives you a taste of mosaic art, with an option to explore it further in future classes.

Learn wheel throwing and numerous hand-building and surface decorating techniques. All experience levels are welcome! The class is custom-tailored to meet the goals of each student. Let’s get dirty, meet some new friends, and have some fun!!!
Clay is included.
Additional Fees: $0.06/ cu (firing fees not included).
Bench fees are NOT a requirement to take the class, but only current students can enroll for bench fees.

Drawing the Portrait with Bryan LeBoeuf – December 2025

This class will aim to examine methods of making the portrait through various mediums but primarily executed and limited to drawing in (charcoal) from direct observation. It will stress the key factors of rendering the head and those specific to the portrait such as gesture, likeness, proportions, light structure, composition, and mark making.
Materials:

- Vine charcoal
- Drawing board/support
- Kneaded eraser
- Paper: 36”x 24” but no smaller than 24”x 18” (Fabriano, Canson, Strathmore cold pressed for example)
- *Sketchbooks are heavily encouraged for all classes*

Washington Art Association Ceramics Studio
Hand building (pinch, coil, slabs) and decoration techniques will be taught through demonstrations and critiques. The focus will be on having fun while experimenting and learning a variety of techniques.
Each student is taught individually at their own experience level. Create your own ideas for projects and personal goals.
Tuition includes 1 bag of clay.
The firing fee is an additional 6 cents per cubic inch.

- Soft vine charcoal
- 1 plain candle (unscented and uncolored)
- Soft drawing pencils (4B – 6B)
- Paper Cold pressed Arches or equivalent. Large( about 28 x32 inches). At least one sheet. White or off white
Cancellation Policy
Participants who withdraw from a class must request a refund or credit more than 14 days prior to the start of the class in order to receive a full refund or credit (minus a $20 cancellation fee or 10% for one-day workshops).
Participants who cancel a registration between 8 and 14 days prior to the start of the class may receive a 50% refund or credit.
Participants who cancel a registration less than 7 days prior to the start of the class will not receive a refund or credit.
Washington Art Association does not offer prorating for classes, and there are no make-ups, credits or refunds if a student misses a class.
Membership fees are non-refundable.
