Hailed by famed San Francisco Museum of Modern Art director, Henry Hopkins: “Even before receiving his MFA from UCLA, Burchman was asked to participate in a group exhibition at Felix Landau Gallery in Los Angeles, featuring such artists as Sam Francis and Francis Bacon. Los Angeles at that time was experiencing a cultural explosion at the national level. Burchman was among the best of the abstract painters.”
