This exciting and fun workshop is about keeping it “SIMPLE” and is geared for the artist (new or advanced) who is looking to explore and have a fresh appreciation for the beauty of “paint” (want to loosen up?) – using the still life, from life, as our perfect vehicle.
This online exploration will give you an important understanding of “starting” your painting, beautiful mark making, luscious paint quality, sculpting with your brush and painting light and creating form. We’ll stay true to those important “fundamentals” (shape, value, edges & colour) as you learn to have the confidence in yourself to pull it all together and portray your subjects beautifully and sensitively.
This workshop is about “Simple Ideas” and is so enjoyable for everyone.
In the first session we’ll discuss “setting up a still life” and the decisions that go into creating a lovely design. Bobbi will then do a painting demonstration using “simple” subjects to discuss the importance of the “start” of your painting.
Each week’s session Bobbi will set up a different painting demonstration from a still life utilizing the “ideas and concepts” learned in the first session. Each week will be a different ‘idea’ and new painting.
Artists will be supplied photos of each still life set up (Bobbi will be painting from life) and are able to paint along with Bobbi or just sit back to enjoy the demonstration and paint on your own later. During each demonstration Bobbi will explain her process and students will be free to ask questions throughout (artists will receive ‘homework’ and be invited to send in photos of their paintings to share with the group and to receive a critique).
This workshop is sure to transform your approach to your own work. My hope is that you’ll come away with a renewed confidence in your artistself and a fresh look at your painting practice that will serve as a stepping stone to all genres.
I hope you’ll join us!
