Description

Painters will have many subjects to paint: the orchard, the fields,

old diary barns, and the spectacular vistas. No guarantees, but the white apple blossoms and pink peach blossom should be blooming!

Averill Farm is a family farm, which has been operated continuously since it was purchased in 1746 from the holdings of Chief Waramaug. For many years it was a dairy farm. Today, the 260-acre bucolic property is primarily a fruit orchard, growing mostly apples but also produces pears, quince, hay and Christmas trees.

At only 12 acres, the Starberry Farm of New Preston is Washington’s smallest farm. It has been in business since 1978 and grows nearly 40 varieties of peaches, a few apples, apricots, sweet and sour cherries, pears, plums and nectarines.

Bring your lunch and anything that will keep you comfortable in the field.
