The class is an in-depth exploration of human form through modeling in clay. Topics include proportions and anatomy of the head, and the form concepts that are the result of that anatomy, with an emphasis on the features.
Individual attention will be given to each student and a demonstration whenever possible. The class will give you a basic foundation in sculpting the portrait and the tools necessary for personal expression.
The class works from the model. Each student will need a life-size head armature, and we’ll work with water clay. A recommended tool is the Kemper Ribbon Sculpting Tool – minimum length 9 ¾”.*
* One source for the supplies is Blick Art Materials. e.g. the portrait armature should be life-size. Blick also has the Kemper sculpting tools, minimum length size 9 ¾”.
