Emotive Drawing requires you to leave behind all notions of what a drawing should be and focus on the body, its movement and the thoughts and feelings that occur as you draw. It’s a great process for anyone who hasn’t drawn before, or as a way to loosen up and re-invigorate your practice.
 
Each workshop will be taught differently, so sign up for one or both!

  • Soft vine charcoal
  • 1 plain candle (unscented and uncolored)
  • Soft drawing pencils (4B – 6B)
  • Paper Cold pressed Arches or equivalent.
    • Large( about 28 x 32 in).
    • At least one sheet.
    • White or off-white

Moira Kelly is an artist, teacher and curator. Born in England, she now lives in New York State. She was Director of The Air Gallery in London, UK and The Lawndale Art and Performance Center in Houston, TX. She curated the first exhibitions by Andy Goldsworthy, Paula Rego, Nancy Spero and Hugh O’Donnell. She thinks both making art and looking at it to be therapeutic.

Cancellation Policy

Participants who withdraw from a class must request a refund or credit more than 14 days prior to the start of the class in order to receive a full refund or credit (minus a $20 cancellation fee or 10% for one-day workshops). Participants who cancel a registration between 8 and 14 days prior to the start of the class may receive a 50% refund or credit. Participants who cancel a registration less than 7 days prior to the start of the class will not receive a refund or credit.

Washington Art Association does not offer prorating for classes, and there are no make-ups, credits or refunds if a student misses a class.

Membership fees are non-refundable.
