Tonal Oil Painting from Black and White Photography Workshop – with Sarena Johnson (Friday, October 24th 6-9pm and Sunday, October 26th 8:30am to 12pm)

Price range: $240.00 through $305.00

Friday, October 24th | 6-9pm and Sunday, October 26th | 8:30am-12pm

Location: Washington Art Association General Studio

This workshop is an opportunity to push your realism skills to the next level, and develop a better understanding of the foundation of your painting. This is a non-threatening environment, appropriate for all skill levels, whether you’re just just picking up the brush or a vetted painter. All are welcome and encouraged!

We will begin by learning how to create a total range and organize our palette in a way that will set us up for success. Next we will delve into the process of blocking in our shadow and light shapes, focusing on form and isolating our tonal values. This practice will give students the tools to achieve another level of realism and a convincing representation of light. My workshops are for painters who want to push their practice and develop an emphasis on strong compositional design! Every student will leave with a fully fleshed out painting, and be supported and guided by me every step of the way.
